  • Overview

    McShane Construction is seeking a motivated and dedicated individual to assist with the day-to-day supervision of construction activities for multi-family construction projects. Priority will be given to Veterans for this opportunity, which will provide training on construction-related activities to prepare for a career in construction supervision. The initial assignment will be an active rehab project, Villages of Westhaven, located at Randolph St. and Hoyne Ave. in Chicago. Working hours for this position are generally 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.

    Responsibilities

    Under guidance of the Field Superintendent:

    • Direct craft personnel and subcontractors.
    • Schedule and sequence the day-to-day activities of work.
    • Oversee work to ensure compliance with the scope and quality as established by the contract documents.
    • Enforce job site cleanliness, safety, health, and substance abuse programs.
    • Proactively anticipate and solve problems that could delay construction.
    • Promote and instill McShane’s values into the workforce.
    • Assist with the inspection process, physically inspecting project to monitor progress and compliance with project standards.
    • Maintain QC/QA files and update as-built drawings.
    • Attend regularly-scheduled progress meetings.

    Qualifications

    • Priority will be given to Veterans.
    • Supervisory experience preferred.
    • Construction experience a plus.
    • Organization, time management, and communication skills.
    • Dependable, punctual, and professional.
    • Computer skills and familiar with MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word)
    • Proficient with MicroSoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
    • Able to walk around active construction site including stairs and across uneven surfaces.
